Adult Education/Adult Forum
We hope that our adult education programs can provide parishioners with opportunities to learn more about the Christian faith, to explore the social and cultural issues affecting our lives, and to facilitate a deeper understanding and love of God.
The adult education class continues with a study of the first Christians. We are viewing a documentary that tells the real story of the rise of Christianity. It is not a story of golden ages of consensus but a story of people in conflict—wresting with Judaism, confronting the authority of the Empire, and struggling among themselves to understand Jesus’ message about the coming of God.
We have a wealth of resources to share with one another, and the Sunday Forum gives us a chance to become better educated in the Christian faith. We hope that the Sunday Forum will be a place of education, a place where we can learn about the Bible and Christian tradition and learn to think theologically. We also hope that the Forum will be a place of growth and development, transforming our lives and our community. Our understanding of the Good News of Jesus is that our lives are transformed bringing meaning, wholeness, hope, and new life to the places that were broken and hopeless before. As we strive to follow in Jesus’ example and be transformed by the Good News both individually and as a parish, we invite you to join us for adult education classes and forums. The Adult Forum meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the Parish Library.
Tuesday Evening Prayer Group continues Tuesdays at 7 pm. This group is for anyone who wishes to explore and deepen their encounter with God. We continue to practice several different kinds of prayer. We often invite speakers to share about prayer and meditation in other faith traditions, we practice centering prayer once a month and we have a Taize service on the third Tuesday of each month. All are welcome!
